FusionOps Corporation, the leading provider of collaborative manufacturing solutions, today announced that Varian Medical Systems (NYSE:VAR) has deployed FusionOps’s Advanced Material Supply(AMS) solution at its Palo Alto, California headquarters as part of a global, corporate effort to improve manufacturing agility. Varian Medical Systems is a world leader in the design and manufacture of integrated systems of equipment and software for treating cancer with radiation therapy, as well as a premier supplier of X-ray tubes and flat panel digital subsystems for imaging in medical, industrial and scientific applications. Varian is automating worldwide direct materials procurement with FusionOps’s rules-based enterprise software configured for each plant’s unique procurement processes, P/N and supplier-specific requirements. Seamlessly integrated with SAP R/3 the FusionOps deployment supports all SAP purchasing documents including channel agreements, contracts, POs and RFQ with no impact to SAP processing.
"We’ve been really pleased with the smooth deployment of FusionOps’s product at our Palo Alto plant. In addition to the productivity benefits from automating buyer transactions and eliminating paper processes, our suppliers have come on-board enthusiastically, without a whole lot of formal training", explains Gary Dankwardt of Varian, "FusionOps has clearly demonstrated their enterprise applications can be quickly configured to each of our plant’s unique requirements using our business rules. With most transactions and exception management fully automated we expect to be handling change orders twice as fast going forward."
Varian Medical Systems conducted a thorough due diligence process before selecting FusionOps to manage all inbound material supply processes. This included a review of alternate solutions, technical and scalability assessments and in-depth architectural reviews. Initially deployed for use by manufacturing facilities in Palo Alto, California the system is being configured for plants in Salt Lake City, Utah and the UK and has been seamlessly integrated with SAP R/3. Designed from the ground-up with industry experts, FusionOps AMS Rel 3.0 is the first enterprise software solution that enables rules-driven automation of material collaboration across the supply network. With full support for MRP, VMI, Kanban and other demand-driven procurement models FusionOps AMS provides a single interface for all material planners to manage RFQ, PO, forecasts, supplier collaboration and analytics such as material spend and supplier quality.
"We welcome Varian Medical Systems, a pioneer and leader in the radiation therapy industry, as a new FusionOps customer," said Ram Mohan, CEO, FusionOps Corporation. "This is a clear validation of the need and value FusionOps can deliver to large medical device manufacturers who are operating on an SAP R/3 enterprise backbone."
